Have you ever heard a song that you liked so much, that you listened to it over and over again!? I am dealing with that now! If you are familiar with the smooth jazz game, then you know who saxophonist Kirk Whalum is. Kirk's latest project 'Roundtrip' features the hit title song and I love it; to the point that I have listened to it close to 50 times today!
There is nothing too exceptional about the song; I just really like it. It is really smooth, with classic vocals from his brother Kevin and uncle Hugh "Peanuts" Whalum. It truly is great music. For all smooth jazz fans out there, you definitely need to take a ear to this Kirk Whalum project.

13 Who Said What?:
Helloo Marcus!!!
Love the song....
...right now i'm playing "Unity" by Kelly Rowland, and "Everybody Nose" by N.E.R.D.
Hey Bro!
I love Kirk Whalum and got to see him perform live with his brother on a cruise ship a few years back. He is definitely smooth, and has exceptional talent!
Blessings!
Well, you're in good company by playing it over and over. The reason is simple: It's Kirk! It can't be helped. I can't imagine you being a Smooth Jazz lover, but, there's a lot to be said for it. When you've got some time, like when nothing else seems to "hit you correctly", find a nice Smooth Jazz station, sit back, and prepare to be wowed. As for K.W., it's hard to not fall in love with the music. Currently (for the past 5 or 6 months), I have been playing "La Pagaras" by La Factoria over and over and over again, and I haven't the faintest idea what the ladies are saying (it's in Spanish). The music sure is great, though. At least you know what K.W. is "saying" - it's universal. Peace.
I stopped listening to jazz a while ago I'll have to check this one out.
Marcus he just perform at my pastor 25 wedding anniversary. I also like his music especially the track Jesus I love you.
I have plenty of songs like that, for the longest it was Chrisette Michele.
I haven't been able to really get into jazz music, but I found myself listening to the Jay Z/ Chrisette Michele song Lost Ones over and over again.
@Don: I like that Jay-Z/Chrisette Michele jump off too brotha; that was another song that I'd keep in repeat form on my MP3 player.
:::MARCUS:::
Thanks for the tip, people. I hadn't heard of Chrisette Michele. Checked her out on Free Napster. Sounds good. Puts me in mind of Erica Badu. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a comp with Jay-Z. Anybody have a link or sing title? Peace.
I like jazz. Not something I go out and purchase but I enjoy the smoothness of it. I'll have to check out that song.
I've put so many songs on repeat that I can't even think of one at the moment. I take that back...one song I used to kill was Lauryn Hill's "I Used to Love Him."
I think my Kirk song was Kylie's Smile.
Other than that...Windfalls of Your Mind by Sting. It's from the Thomas Crown soundtrack...which is a pretty sexy soundtrack.
I think I have heard of him. To be honest I had to stray away from the smooth jazz scene. I was into it when I was living in DE like back in 2002 but when I moved to Baltimore and began listening to the "cool" jazz station on Morgan State University's college radio there was no comparison. I am much more into cool jazz than smooth jazz and believe me you can tell the difference. I used to listen to the like of Kim Waters, Najee,Richard Elliot, Candy Dulfer among others. Don't get me wrong they are still great artist by my tastes in jazz have changed. I now try to listen to a small station in northern NJ that plays that kind of jazz.
As for Chrisette Michelle, can that chick blow or what? I get images of old school sistas back in the day when I hear her sing. I need to cop her album right quick.
