My song/video this week for Old School Friday comes by way of 'Troop'. This 1989 hit song is a remake of the 1975 hit from 'Jackson 5'. Troop did a great job duplicating the classic love song. I actually posted both videos so that you can determine whose version is better.

24 Who Said What?:
Wow, we have the same taste. I posted this very song from Troop last summer on my blog when I was reminiscing about those old school jams I used to listen to on the radio. At the time I posted it I didn't know it was a remake (big surprise) until another blogger told me about the Jackson original version. I like the Troop version but the Jackson version for me is the best.
Thanks for posting this.
Enjoy your weekend.
nice one,i like the jackson5 version better though but the troop killed it though
have a nice weekend
Hands down the Jacksons are the better.
Have a good weekend.
OLD SCHOOOL JAMZ ARE THE BEST!!! SO MUCH OF TODAYS MUSIC HAS NO MESSAGE AND A WASTE OF AIR SPACE...LOL
LOVE IT!!!!
TORI
Marcus, thanks for dropping by on my blog. I would have to go Jackson Five. However when I looked at the video with other group, the girl is so pretty and we don't seem to get black girls in nice video's anymore.
Can't go wrong with the Jacksons. And Troop did kill it though.
love the troop song. takes me back to high school and not being able to wait until i hit the hallways and saw my girl.
good stuff.
You have no idea how much I love this Troop song!
I give love to the Jackson 5, too...
Hey Marcus!!
Excellent choice! I am totally torn because I love both versions, but I may have to give the slight edge to TROOP! The absolutely kill this song! Since I am totally old school, to give this win to Troop says a lot. But it was very close!
have a great weekend!
they cant touch that J% man
Nice find man. I had NO idea that the Jackson 5 had covered this song, but they did a good job though-
WoW! I can't believe I didn't know this was a remake. I can't believe it! I'm in shock...That troop song was the bomb, my husband made a tape for me with that song on it, and now I have to go find the Jackson 5 version for my ipod.
Kudos!
Oh yeah! Sorry I vote TROOP, they had harmony.
ooh you took it back to 1989 the year i graduated high school and because of that Troop wins, because that reminds me of my first love!
1975...1989..both very good years for me, so its a tie. Great choices... I did Alicia Keyes and Brenda Holloway "Every Little Bit Hurts" hope you get a chance to drop by. SjP
I can't choose!! I like them both! But I did enjoy seeing MJ when he was a black man!! LOL
OMG! No you didn't! Troop was the ish on this track. I remember listening to this song with my older cousins! I am have the best time today! I love the theme!
ha!! I knew this was originally a jackson 5 song! this song came on the radio about 2 nights ago and my wife swore that it wasn't. I was too lazy to do a wiki, but now I have proof! Great post, one of my favorite songs.. Troop had some good songs. I used to think they were affiliated with the TROOP Jackets until I heard L.L. actually owned that.. Peace
Seeing the Jackson 5 video put a huge smile on my face. I was a 10 year old screaming fan all over again. Thanks for the smile. Happy OSF and have a great weekend.
Marcus - Good choice, but being a J% fan from way back, I have to give the original the nod. Troop did their thing on the remix too. BTW, where are they now?
maaaaan you took it back with that troop song.
that song always makes me fuzzy inside. lol.
good stuff!
hope all is fab marcus!
I LOVE THAT SONG!! Awww, I really miss the good ole days! (Smile). Troop definitely did a fabulous job of re-making the classic song. Great memories! Great post!
Thanks for posting the Jackson Five's version. I don't know which version I like better. I like 'em both.
I didn't even know that this was a remake so I always loved the Troop version. Now that I've seen them both....hmmm...I'm gonna have to give it to the Jackson 5!!
